Over the last month, horses and donkeys affected by the collapse of the tourism industry in Egypt have been fed and treated by the Brooke.  Nearly 40,000kg of feed has been distributed to over 3,000 animals and nearly 11,000 veterinary treatments have been carried out in Cairo, Edfu, Aswan and Luxor.

On March 15th, the Brooke distributed 2,050kg feed to 300 horses in Edfu.

“The animals were suffering dehydration and hunger, but now they have food and the people are able to afford to feed themselves and their families after the Brooke took care of their animals,” says 32 year old horse owner Ahmed Khatab.

The Brooke is combining forces with the Donkey Sanctuary and the Egyptian Society for Animal Friends (ESAF) to ensure the best treatment of needy horses and donkeys across Egypt. The Brooke has also been working with Aswan City Council to treat horses and donkeys and to distribute food
