Andrew Gale to join in Winter Wonderland fun at Leeds Donkey Assisted Therapy centre

Yorkshire cricket captain Andrew Gale will be joining in the fun and games at a magical Winter Wonderland weekend being hosted by an Eccup Donkey Assisted Therapy Centre on Saturday 1^st and Sunday 2^nd December. 

The Leeds centre of The Donkey Sanctuary is inviting the public to come along to its Winter Wonderland weekend between 10.00am - 2.30pm on both days. Sporting celebrity Andrew Gale, who has adopted the centre’s therapy donkey Billy O, will be at the centre on Sunday 2^nd December to meet visitors.

Children will be able to enjoy magical sleigh and donkey rides to meet Santa in a superb grotto. Adults will also be well catered for with plenty of donkey goodies and Christmas gift stands to look around plus a range of delicious festive refreshments to enjoy. Visitors will have the opportunity to adopt one of the centre’s lovable therapy donkeys for just £16 for a year – the perfect Christmas gift for donkey lovers and supporters of the charity.

The centre’s Riding Instructor Kirsty Christmas says: “We absolutely love sharing the festive spirit with our visitors and supporters and would love to welcome lots of friends, old and new, to meet our 22 resident donkeys at our fantastic Winter Wonderland. The funds that we raise at this event will help us to provide Donkey Assisted Therapy to children with additional needs throughout the Leeds area.”

Admission to the Winter Wonderland is free and visits to Santa’s grotto cost £5.00 per child which includes a donkey-led sleigh ride and gift.

The Donkey Sanctuary’s Leeds centre provides donkey assisted therapy to 190 local children with additional needs from Leeds and the surrounding area each week. The centre provides its services free of charge and relies upon supporters for donations as it does not receive any government funding.
