Beside-the-sea donkeys star in new Laura Ashley collection

A photograph of beach donkeys at Blackpool has forged a nostalgic link between international animal welfare charity The Donkey Sanctuary and English fashion and home furnishing company Laura Ashley.

The photograph, which shows donkeys providing traditional rides on the beach in front of the iconic Blackpool Tower, is featured on Laura Ashley’s brand new nostalgic, patchwork wallpaper ‘Beside-The-Sea’.

Emma Gill, PR Officer for The Donkey Sanctuary, says: “We were delighted to be approached by Laura Ashley and invited to supply a photograph for use in their new wallpaper design.  Many people tell us of their fond memories of riding donkeys on beaches in their childhood summer holidays.  The Donkey Sanctuary works with beach donkey operators to ensure that the welfare of the 1,000 or so donkeys working on UK beaches providing traditional rides for children is of a good standard.”
