Donkey charity’s foster home on show in Huntingdon

International animal welfare charity The Donkey Sanctuary is hosting a free, behind-the-scenes event in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, on Saturday 21st July, between 11am – 3pm to encourage donkey lovers to find out more about fostering.

The charity, whose rehoming scheme finds loving homes for donkeys who would benefit from the kind of one-one-one attention private homes can provide, is seeing a big increase in the number of animals coming into their care, and is looking for more people to provide loving homes for them. Donkeys are carefully matched with prospective homes to ensure a happy future for both animals and foster owners.

Those interested in fostering will get the chance to go behind-the-scenes at a home in Huntingdon that currently fosters donkeys with The Donkey Sanctuary, learn more about the scheme and find out if fostering could be for them.

Michael Crane, The Donkey Sanctuary’s Head of Welfare, says:

“Our foster owners often tell us how much fun it is to give a loving home to a pair of donkeys, and this is the perfect opportunity to find out if rehoming is for you.  Enjoy a glimpse behind the scenes at one of our foster homes and see if you too could count donkeys as part of your family with The Donkey Sanctuary’s foster scheme.”

Entry is free and refreshments will be provided.  Places are limited - please call Nicky Spence, The Donkey Sanctuary’s Farms Equine Assistant, on 01395 573055 for directions, further information and to book your place.
