Three of Michael Pollard's horses have now died following trailer crash

In a heartbreaking week for Pan Am Gold Medal U.S. eventer Michael Pollard, in addition to the stallion VDL Ulando H, two more horses have died following a horrendous road accident on Friday May 25, when the trailer turned over, trapping the six horses on board.

Icarus, Michael and wife Nathalie's four star eventer, was put down on Saturday, then on Sunday, three-star Irish sport horse Jude's Law was put down.

VDL Ulando H's owner Ruth Armstrong wrote of her heartbreak on her Facebook page. "God speed my lovely boy. I cannot tell how you how devestated i am."

Horse and Hound reports that  Michael called Icarus  "... the best horse in the world who just never quite made it — mostly my fault, and certainly not his. He was a family member and it will not be the same without him in the barn.”

And of Jude, he added: “This horse was so special to me and looked like he was going to be fine in a couple of weeks." “I am absolutely crushed.”

The three other horses were on the trailer at the time of the accident are expected to make a full recovery.
