Two KWPN Guided Tours in The Netherlands
The KWPN organizes several tours each year to acquaint its foreign guests with the best Dutch horse- breeding, training, and sales have to offer. The Guided Tours give KWPN horse enthusiasts a close-up view of the breeding and management practices that have made the KWPN the biggest and most successful studbook in the world. This August, the KWPN will host two Guided Tours: one on Saturday, the 13th, departing from Ermelo; and another on Friday, the 19th, departing from the FEI European Dressage Championships in Rotterdam.
KWPN Horse Days
The KWPN Horse Days event - featuring six days of sport competition and breed classes - concludes on Saturday, August 13th, with the KWPN Guided Tour. This time the tour will visit Dressuurstal Sollenburg, home of the KWPN stallions Westenwind (s. Flemmingh) and Charmingmood (s. Winningmood). The tour will also stop at Stal Roelofs, the 2010 KWPN Breeder of the Year in the jumping breeding direction and breeder of several approved stallions as well as the international jumpers Rubert R (s. Mermus R) and Vegas (s. Voltaire). The two facilities will open their doors and give tour guests an exclusive overview of their business operations and breeding philosophy. The last stop on the tour is the Star Sale Auction in Sleen, where sport horses from the best bloodlines of the northern Netherlands will be available for bidding.
FEI European Dressage Championships
This summer, the KWPN will offer an additional Guided Tour to celebrate the European Dressage Championships in Rotterdam. The tour is scheduled for Friday, August 19th, the rest day for the FEI European Dressage Championships in Rotterdam. This tour features visits to renowned dressage facilities, like Stal Broere - home of the world-famous KWPN stallion Broere Jazz (s. Cocktail) and the winner of the 2009 FEI World Breeding Championships for Young Dressage Horses, Broere Westpoint (s. Jazz). Also scheduled is a visit to the Van Uytert Stallion Station, famous for stallions including IPS Gribaldi (s. Kostolany), IPS Painted Black (s. Gribaldi), and IPS Krack C (s. Flemmingh).
The tours are a must-do experience for those visiting the Netherlands! Guided by equestrian professionals, guests enjoy visits to several equestrian facilities. Admission is €50 per person, including bus transportation, lunch, and beverages.
