USTRC Offers Free Roping Seminars at Cinch NFTR
Young Ropers invited to participate in Jr. Looper World Championships
Stephenville, Texas –The Cinch USTRC National Finals of Team Roping will serve as the team ropers mecca October 22-30 in Oklahoma City where ropers will not only compete, but will find a full menu of activities for the whole family, including seminars featuring world-renowned experts, as well as the highly-anticipated Jr. Looper World Championships.
Produced by the United States Team Roping Championships (USTRC), the Cinch USTRC National Finals of Team Roping is set to offer an estimated $4.5 million in cash and prizes. The seminars are free and open to the public compliments of Purina Mills, Martin Saddlery, Classic Ropes and Classic Equine. Seminars will held October 25 and 28 and will begin each day at 9:30 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds.
Featured instructors at the clinic include 7-time World Champion Jake Barnes, NFR Qualifier and professional clinician Rickey Green, multiple champion and PRCA horse of the year owner Kory Koontz, 8-time World Champion Speed Williams, and 2-time World Champion Heeler and world-renowned instructor Walt Woodward.
“These ropers represent what is essentially a ‘ring of honor’ in the team roping world and USTRC is honored to bring their skills to its members to improve their abilities as horsemen and ropers,” said USTRC President Kirk Bray. “One of the true attractions of this sport is that it is open to almost any age and is something that demands a skill that can be improved upon no matter who you are.”
In addition to the seminars is another free event fashioned just for the young roper – the USTRC Jr. Looper Championships, a popular competition where youth try their hand at roping a stationary plastic steer model. Three age groups are offered: 6 and under, 7 to 9 and 10 to 12. Difficulty escalates as the distance to the model is increased.
Offering a prize line that includes saddles, jackets, buckles, ropes and much more, entry into the Jr. Looper Championships is free and will offer two preliminary rounds on October 26 and 29, followed by the Jr. Looper Shoot-Out to be held October 29 in the Oklahoma State Fair Arena.
The event is open to youth 12 and under. USTRC Jr. Looper memberships are free and may be obtained at the event. A copy of the birth certificate is required.
