UPDATE ON EQUESTRIAN HAWLEY BENNETT-AWAD'S CONDITION
"We are very relieved that Hawley is recovering well and is expected to be released from the hospital shortly," stated Mike Gallagher, President of Equine Canada. "She is to be commended for her strength and courage, and we hope to see her back in fine form soon and competing once again for Canada."
Hawley, 35, of Langley, BC, fell at fence three during the cross country competition yesterday riding Gin & Juice, a 12-year-old American Thoroughbred mare she co-owns with Linda Paine. She suffered a concussion and a stable sacral fracture and required hospitalization.
She was the highest placed member of the Canadian Olympic Team for Eventing as competition opened on Saturday, July 28, at Greenwich Park for the 2012 London Olympic Games.
