USEF Results Week Ending June 22, 2011

Dressage

At the CDI Milton in Canada, David Marcus came in seventh and eighth in the Prix St. Georges. He rode Don Kontes to a 64.035% for seventh and Chevri's Capital to a 63.860% for eighth. Marcus had strong finishes once again at Intermediaire I, finishing in third with Chevri's Capital with a score of 70.000% and sixth with Don Kontes with a score of 68.026%. Don Kontes came back once more for Marcus in the Intermediaire I Freestyle to score a 68.050% for a sixth place finish.

The Golden State Dressage Classic in California also played host to CDI competition. In the Prix St. Georges class, Mette Rosencrantz and Finally had the top score with a 67.325%. Second place went to Chelsey Sibley and Contester II with a 66.535%, while Carolyn Adams and Winterprinz took third with a 66.272%. Heather Oleson and Escorial took first place in the Intermediaire I class with a score of 67.939%. Adams and Rosencrantz had strong performances once again to finish in second and third respectively, with scores of 67.588% and 66.053%. In the Intermediaire I Freestyle, Rosencrantz and Finally took home another win with an impressive score of 72.083%. Oleson and Escorial had another high-scoring performance to come in second with a score of 71.208%, while Tracy Lert and Udo finished third with a score of 68.208%.

Driving

Chester Weber picked up another big CAI4 win in Europe, this time in Altenfelden, Austria. After leading the dressage phase with a score of 41.22, Weber accumulated 114.62 penalties in the marathon phase to hold his position in wet conditions. He completed his weekend by adding nothing more to his score in the cones phase to finish on a three-phase total of 155.84.

Endurance

In the CEI 2* in Ezeiza, Argentina, U.S. rider Cheryl Van Deusen finished in fourth place with Moro Amado in the 120 km race with a time of 6:09. Pio Olascoaga of Uruguay took the top prize in the 120km race with Picaflor WM, coming in with a time of 5:28.

Eventing

Andreas Dibowski of Germany came out on top at the Luhmühlen CCI4* on Euroridings Butts Leon, finishing on a score of 39.80. The top placing American was Will Faudree riding Pawlow to a 22nd placed finish. Julian Stiller was close behind Faudree, finishing in 24th place with Chapel Amble. Faudree had the best U.S. result of the weekend with Andromaque. The pair was 11th in the CIC3* on a score of 47.10. The pair had an impressive weekend, adding nothing to their dressage score.

Jumping

Another busy weekend for American riders took place around the globe, but once again the majority of the American riders were at Spruce Meadows.

Starting off the Spruce Meadows Continental on June 16, McLain Ward had a fast clear round with Pjotter Van De Zonnehoeve to win the 1.45 M Friends of the Meadows Welcome. He was in good company with his fellow U.S. riders. Beezie Madden and Amadora, Sarah Ballou and Absie, and Karl Cook and Notories Utopia finished second, third and fourth respectively.

U.S. riders again made a strong showing in the 1.50 M Husky Energy Cup. Madden had two clear rounds with Coral Reef Via Volo to take second place behind Canada's Chris Pratt and Cruise. Ward and Coco 135 had a rail in the jump off, so they settled for third. Richard Spooner and Billy Bianca finished fourth, Mario Deslauriers and Cella finished fifth, Kent Farrington and Valhalla finished sixth.

Ward scored another win on Thursday, this time in the 1.60 M Friends of the Meadows Cup with Vocas. Spooner and Cristallo were a close second, while Kirsten Coe and Tristan, Deslauriers and Vicomte D, and Farrington and Uceko all finished in the top 10.

Ward's success continued, he had another top placing with Pjotter Van De Zonnehoeve, the pair was second in the 1.45 M AltaGas Cup behind Daniel Bluman and Fatalis Fatum from Colombia. Spooner and Pariska 2 were third. In the 1.50 M Scotiabank Cup, Ward continued his top placings, this time he was third with Oh D'Eole. Madden finished fourth with Coral Reef Via Volo. Reigning Olympic Gold medalists, Eric Lamaze and Hickstead won the class for Canada.

Karl Cook rode Notories Utopia to another top placing at Spruce Meadows, finishing second in the 1.45 M Friends of the Meadows Parcours de Chasse. U.S. riders dominated much of the top ten in the 1.50 M McDaniel & Associates Cup. Leslie Howard and Utah won with their fast, clear rounds, while Ward and Vocas and Madden and Leap of Joy finished second and third respectively. Deslauriers and Cella finished fifth; young rider Caitlin Ziegler and Valencia were sixth.

The Americans finished out the weekend strongly in 1.60 M CN Performance Grand Prix. Kyle King and Capone I cruised to a major victory, outrunning Lamaze and Hickstead for the top spot. Ward and Antares F and Spooner and Cristallo both had one rail in the jump-off to finish, fourth and fifth respectively.

On the European Young Riders tour, the U.S. riders continued their strong showing at CSIOY Hagen.

In the CSIOY Nations Cup, the U.S. team of Catherine Pasmore, Karen Polle, Reed Kessler, and Jessica Springsteen tied for third with Germany with a total of 24 faults. Pasmore jumped a clear first round, and then had one rail in the second. Polle picked up 12 faults in each leg. Kessler had four faults in round one and bounced back with a clear round in the second and Springsteen added eight in each leg.

Reed Kessler and Cylana came in third in the 1.40 M Preis der Firma Cavalor, Wesel. Jessica Springsteen and Vornado van den Hoendrijk finished ninth in the 1.40M Preis der Städtereinigung HHG Holtmeyer GmbH & Co.KG, Georgsmarienhütte. Catherine Pasmore and My Boy 18 had a second place finish in the 1.40 M Preis von Hit-Radio Antenne Niedersachsen, Hannover. Ricky Neal and Transmission had a huge win in the 1.40 M Grand Prix with two clean, fast rounds.

At CSI3* Luxembourg, Maggie McAlary won twice. She scored with Liquide in the 1.40 M Prix Loterie Nationale and in the 1.45 M Nordea U25 Cup, this time with Caliana.

At the CSI Balve Optimum in Germany, Lucy Davis and Hannah were ninth in the 1.40 M Preis der Hermann Sprenger GmbH CSI2*. Later in the week, Davis and Hannah had an impressive second place finish in the 1.40 M Preis der Medice Pütter GmbH - Kleine Tour CSI2*. Lauren Hough and Spencer III finished seventh in the same division. Hough and Caribo were fourth in the 1.40 M Preis des Einrichtungshauses Ostermann CSIYH1*and then seventh in the 1.40 M Preis des Einrichtungshauses Ostermann CSIYH1* later in the week.
