USET Foundation: President and CEO Jane F. Clark Resigns

Equisearch.com/Nancy Jaffer are reporting that United States Equestrian Team Foundation President and CEO Jane Forbes Clark has resigned her position.

Clark has been a steadfast supporter of US High Performance equestrian sport for decades, sponsoring riders and providing horses for them in show jumping, dressage, and driving.  Most recently, Mario Deslauriers, who obtained US citizenship several years ago, has been riding Clark's show jumping horses including Urico with which Delauriers won one of the legs of the US Olympic show jumping trials, and Cella with which he won the $200,000 Gene Mische American Invitational in April.

However, Clark and Delauriers parted ways following the Olympic show jumping trials this summer and Clark has decided that British Olympian Ben Maher will take over the ride on her horses.  Because Maher rides for Great Britain, Clark felt she might face the perception of a conflict of interest in heading the US team.  She was quoted as saying:

"If he [Ben Maher] is selected by the British team with one of my horses, then my horse will be on the British team."

Clark will continue to support the USET foundation, and will provide new mounts for Leslie Burr Howard, a long-time US top level show jumper.  She will also continue her sponsorship for dressage rider Katherine Bateson-Chandler and driver Chester Weber.
