USHJA Zone 4 Free Riders Clinic Announces Karen Healey As Clinician

Wellington, FL - The USHJA Zone 4 Hunter and Jumper Committees are working in tandem to offer a free Riders Clinic at the Palm Beach Equine Sports Complex in Wellington, FL, on February 20, 2012. The clinic is open to all Zone 4 USEF/USHJA members of varying levels at absolutely no cost. Zone 4 is pleased to announce Karen Healey as the clinician for the first Riders Clinic this year.

Healey's reputation speaks for itself with numerous accolades and years of experience in the equitation, hunter and jumper rings. Not only did the Chronicle of the Horse name her the 2007 Hunter/Equitation Horseman of the Year, but also her winning system has led her clients to achieve success in the show ring time and time again. Similar to that of her mentor George H. Morris, Healey prides herself on developing horsemen in the truest sense of the word.

Using hard work, determination and her passion for teaching, Healey has developed such riders as Mia Wood, Lauren Kay, Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum, Kristen Posehn, 1998 AHSA Junior Horsemen of the Year Jill Preito, Kasey Ament, and 2008 USET Talent Search and Style Award Winner Hannah Selleck. Karen Healey Stables is presently located at Shelburne Farms in Hidden Valley, CA. Since locating to California, her riders have won over 75 medal finals and numerous championships in the hunter/jumper divisions.

Healey's dedication to the equine industry also involves the governance and guidance of the sport, through serving on the USHJA Committee as a Chairperson for the Equitation Taskforce, a member of the Hunter Taskforce and as a committee member of the Trainers Certification Program. She has also served on the Board of Directors for the American Hunter-Jumper Foundation since 1995, as well as being an active member of the Trainer's Committee.

"I think it's great that the zones have taken responsibility to give back to members at no cost," Clinic Coordinator Charlie Moorcroft elaborated. "We are so pleased about the future facilities that will host Zone Clinics such as this, and are thrilled that Palm Beach Equine took the initiative to step up and provide the opportunity first."

Within the first day of the clinic's announcement, Moorcroft's voicemail was entirely filled to capacity three times. Not only did he receive countless voice messages, but interested riders sent him text messages as well. "The response was overwhelming," Moorcroft continued. "The memory on my phone was entirely filled for three days, I was literally unreachable because of the amount of calls and messages. Karen Healey is amazing at what she does, and she is willing to do anything to make this clinic a success for everyone involved, it's no surprise that people jumped at the opportunity."

The Riders Clinic will be held at the Palm Beach Equine Sports Complex located at 13070 Pierson Road, Wellington, FL. All spots are currently filled for participation in February's Riders Clinic; however, auditors are more than welcome to join as well.

"We are so excited about the response we have gotten, Zone 4 has always been a leader, and we've done it again!" Co-Coordinator of the Zone 4 Riders Clinic Sue Ashe said.
