Para-Equestrian Dressage Chef d'Equipe and Technical Advisor

Gladstone, NJ- The search is on to find the new United States Para-Equestrian Dressage Chef d'Equipe and Technical Advisor. Applications will be accepted through September 5, 2013.

The Para Dressage Chef d'Equipe / Technical Advisor responsibilities:
➢ In coordination with the High Performance Para Dressage Committee (HPPDC), develop and
implement the 2013-2016 High Performance Para Dressage Plan to achieve objectives defined by the HPPDC, with assistance as needed from USEF staff. These objectives include but are not limited to the following:
Games, as well as CPEDI competitions.
➢ Serve in the role of Chef d'Equipe:
CPEDI's as mutually agreed upon each year.
➢ Strengthen the Athlete Pipeline:
trainer and support staff, for international competitions.
enthusiasm in Para Dressage, especially with potential sponsors and owners.
The Dressage Technical Advisor/ Chef d'Equipe should have the following qualities:
➢ The strong desire to win.
➢ Strong leadership skills including the ability to inspire.
➢ Strong organization and clerical skills.
➢ Ability to exercise judgment and discretion, especially during stressful situations.
➢ Ability to think strategically on a national and international level, considering athletes throughout the country at top National level.
➢ Knowledgeable and influential internationally.
➢ Ability to have good relations with media.
➢ Ability to work well and effectively under pressure and in stressful situations.
➢ A supportive, encouraging and positive attitude towards athletes.
➢ Approachable and forthcoming with advice, guidance and knowledge.
➢ Open minded, flexible, and inventive, preferably including knowledge about adaptive Para Dressage Equipment.
➢ Ability to foster talent, i.e. guide the careers of horses and athletes.
➢ Able to travel in the US and to all areas of the world and be in contact with the riders.
➢ Agreeable to spend approx. 50% of his/her time with administrative duties and 50% on the road.
The Dressage Technical Advisor/ Chef d'Equipe should have the following experience:
➢ International Olympic/Championship experience in an Official capacity.
➢ Proven leadership ability to guide the High Performance Plan to Championship level.
➢ Demonstrated ability to work successfully with: athletes, trainers, coaches, judges, veterinarians, owners, and fellow USEF staff members.
USEF RETAINS THE RIGHT TO AMEND, MODIFY, OR CHANGE THE JOB DESCRIPTION AT ANY TIME.
About United States Para-Equestrian Association:
The USPEA is a network of riders, judges, national federation board members, and equestrian enthusiasts. The association gives athletes the ability to get involved and expand their knowledge and experience in the Para-Equestrian sport. The USPEA encourages para-athletes to participate in all disciplines under the para-equestrian umbrella.
The USPEA is a recognized affiliate of the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) which serves as the National Governing Body for the equestrian sport. This relationship between the USPEA and USEF is to encourage para-equestrian competitors, leisure riders, coaches, fans and enthusiasts to network and get involved with the entire equestrian sport.
Ultimately the goal of the USPEA is to foster growth in the para-equestrian discipline. From growth in the number of participants to growth as a team, and growth in the experience and knowledge of all involved. From local horse shows to international Olympic Games, the USPEA will provide para-equestrians the knowledge of what they need to succeed. The USPEA connects with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI), the United States Dressage Federation (USDF), and USEF which provides Para-Equestrians the top equestrian resources.
In June 2010, the USPEA earned its 501 (c)(3) status which has encouraged supporters to help supply funding to the Para-Equestrian Team as a recognized affiliate of the United States Equestrian Federation(USEF).
