Sallie B. Wheeler/US Hunter Breeding National Championship Heads to
Virginia Horse Center

Lexington, VA - The Sallie B. Wheeler/US Hunter Breeding National Championship - East Coast showcases many of the highest quality young horses in the country, and this summer they are coming to the Virginia Horse Center.

Following a strong bid from the Horse Center, the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) awarded the show to the top-notch competition facility. Previously held at the Warrenton Horse Show, the prestigious championship moves to the Virginia Horse Center on Saturday, August 29, 2015.

"The Sallie Wheeler [US Hunter Breeding National Championship] has grown, and now we're going to the next level where this championship is really coming into it's own," said Bill Rube, Chairman of the Sallie B. Wheeler/US Hunter Breeding National Championship Subcommittee. "We're really glad to be partnering with the Virginia Horse Center because they'll be able to accommodate all of our needs. It's a first class operation, and they're going above and beyond the call of duty to make us comfortable."

The Sallie B. Wheeler/US Hunter Breeding Championship was created to increase awareness of the Hunter Breeding division and provide an arena for handlers, owners and breeders to showcase their talented young horses. It offers championships on both the east and west coasts, with the same judges officiating at both events and overall grand and reserve grand champion honors presented to the best horses from either location.

"The Sallie Wheeler Championship is such an important show for the hunter breeding divisions and the hunter breeding programs here in the United States. The organizers and committee behind it have done a phenomenal job of growing it into the highly respected event that it is today, and we're delighted to be working with them this year," said John Nicholson, Chief Executive Officer of the Virginia Horse Center. "Hopefully it's just the beginning of our relationship, and we look forward to continuing to add events of this caliber to our schedule."

The Sallie B. Wheeler/U.S. Hunter Breeding Championship is one of 15 new events added to the Virginia Horse Center calendar for 2015, representing the continuous growth of the Horse Center. To view more of the events scheduled for 2015 visit www.horsecenter.org/Events.
