Winston Named as ‘Omega Alpha Horse of the Month’ for June 

Ottawa, ON—Equine Canada has named Winston the ‘Omega Alpha Horse of the Month’ for June.

This recognition was earned based on his incredible back-to-back results at two World Cup Qualifying Dressage CDI competitions—the CDI-W Milton Summer Classic, held June 17–19, followed by the CDI-W Milton International Classic, which ran from June 24–26. Both competitions where held at the Iron Horse Equestrian Complex in Milton, ON.

Ridden by Tina Irwin of Stouffville, ON, Winston, Mary Ellen Horgan’s 14-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding sired by Whinny Jackson, placed first in the Intermediaire Freestyle with 73.325%, and second in both the Intermediaire I (71.053%) and Prix St. Georges (67.763%) during the CDI-W Milton Summer Classic.

At CDI-W Milton International Classic, Winston and Irwin placed second with a score of 74.225% in the Intermediaire Freestyle. The pair scored 70.614%% in the Intermediaire 1 and 69.123% in the Prix St. Georges for two additional second place finishes

“Winston has turned out to be such a special horse and over the last year under the guidance and training of the Irwins, Tina and her husband Jaimie, has developed into every horse owner’s dream. He combines rideability, soundness, and talent all in one beautiful package,” said Horgan. “We are all a team (Team Irwin) and appreciate Equine Canada recognizing our efforts.”

The Equine Canada Horse of the Month program was developed to recognize a performance of exceptional merit by a horse from the disciplines of dressage, eventing or show jumping. Equine Canada is very pleased to have Omega Alpha Pharmaceuticals’ generous support of the horse recognition program. Omega Alpha Pharmaceuticals will be providing the selected horse/rider combination with Omega Alpha product of their choice, up to a value of $1,000.
