Elite eventing star backs horse charity’s Fly Fringe appeal at Badminton
World Horse Welfare is delighted that Olympic rider and Rolex Grand Slam winner Pippa Funnell MBE is backing their ‘No Flies on Me’ appeal.
The elite eventing star, who is a trustee of the international horse charity, will be at their trade stand on the Dressage days (Friday and Saturday) of the horse trials to sign copies of her new book from the Tilly’s Pony Tails series – Goliath: The Rescue Horse.
The latest book in the series sees Tilly undertake work experience at World Horse Welfare where she helps a rescued shire horse that has been neglected.
Come and visit World Horse Welfare’s stand to meet Pippa as well as find out more about how you can help working horses in Honduras.
The charity is asking for donations of new halter fly fringes which are made with tassels to help alleviate suffering and protect horses against the aggravating insects.
During the event between Thursday 21 April and Monday 25 April 2011, there will be the opportunity to purchase a fly fringe and also for members of the public to bring along their own fly fringes which will be sent out to the Central American country to help the horses working there.
Other activities taking place at the World Horse Welfare trade stand include: -
• Learn how to do saddle stitching and cinch making with a world class saddle maker.
• Expert advice from a World Horse Welfare Field Officer (Saturday- Monday).
• Chief Executive Roly Owers will be available to speak with members of the public and offer advice (Friday-Monday).
• World Horse Welfare merchandise as well as Goliath: The Horse Rescue book will be available to buy.
• Opportunity to buy tickets for the summer raffle with a first prize of £7,500.
