Job Details/Description: Must have 5+ years experience in exercising thoroughbred race horses. Job requirements include:

-teaching young horses the skills that they need to race safely and effectively

-maintain conditioning on older horses

-be able to determine whether a horse is a sprinter or distance horse to determine whether they are better on the turf or polytrack surface

-capable of recognizing soundness problems typically brought on by stresses incurred with training and racing at an early stage

-athletic ability to control equine athletes

-endurance to ride all the horses they get in one morning

-ability to suggest changes to the training of each horse to the trainer

-be able to gallop with and use all the varied equipment using in the morning gallops

-ability to judge speed of horse so that theu can follow the trainers instructions (i..e 2 minute lick)

-dedication to work in all weather and early in the morning 7 days a week

-basic barn support (i.e. holding horses for a bath, cleaning stalls, replacing waters etc)

-cleaning and maintaining tack and equipment.
