Ontario Regional Development Coach Position
The Para-Equestrian Canada Ontario Regional Development will report to and work under the leadership of the Para-Equestrian Canada High Performance Committee and the Para-Equestrian Canada National Team Coach.
Responsibilities of the Regional Development Coach:
• Research, locate, and identify athletes that have an interest in the discipline of Para-Dressage
• Provide ongoing rider skill development through video assessment, training clinics, and/or lessons
• Evaluate and monitor the potential of athletes as future Canadian Para-Equestrian Team members
• Assist athletes and personal coaches in transitioning to higher levels of competition
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum NCCP Level 2 with specific background coaching up to 3rd Level
Dressage.
• NCCP Level 1 with CanTRA Coach or CanTRA Instructor Certification; may be
considered concurrently with experience and background in competitive
dressage at least to 3rd level.
• Knowledge of the functional FEI Para-Dressage classification system, rules and adaptive tack.
Desirable Qualifications:
• Experience working with athletes with a disability.
• Experience judging and/or coaching Para-Dressage.
• Personal competitive experience within the sport of Dressage beyond 3rd Level.
• Experience in identifying, selecting and matching horses suitable to the needs of individual athletes.
• Certification as a National Classification Advisor or Classifier.
