Instead of rustling the whole horse, thieves in Montana are just stealing their hair.  Over the last few weeks, two horse owners near the city of Bozeman have notified authorities that their horses' tail hair has been cut off.  The hair was cut below the tail bone, and none of the horses were injured.

This is not the first time such incidents have occurred.  Braided horse hair is used to make a number of items ranging from belts and bridle parts while long sections of tail hair is made into very popular tail extensions which are seen on several different show circuits.

At least one of the horse owners is doing something about the loss of their horse's tail.  Media reports that they have put up a reward of $500 to find out who was responsible.
