Aachen CHIO: Boyd Exell drives to victory in the TIME-SHUTTLE Prize 4-in-hand Driving

Capone, Monty, Rambo and Winston are the names of the horses that Boyd Exell drove to victory. With a score of 77.1 percent the Australian claimed first place in the TIME-SHUTTLE Prize. After the dressage the 37-year-old, who has been living in Great Britain since 1993, is currently heading the rankings of the four-in-hand drivers, the combined result also comprises of the obstacle driving and marathon competitions and counts for the individual classification as well as for the Nations Cup. The Dutchman, Theo Timmermann, secured himself second place (73.7). Third place went to the American driver, James Henry Fairclough (71.7) ahead of Christoph Sandmann (Lähden/71.3).


Boyd Exell already got involved in the equestrian sport at the age of eight and has since taken part in nine World Championships. The father of two has won the FEI Driving World Cup twice. Christoph Sandmann (Lähden) has won team gold at three World Championships: in Riesenbeck (1992), in the Hague (1994) and in Aachen (2006). The father of three has won the German Championship title four times and also the FEI World Cup in the season 2007/2008, in 2002 the 43-year-old was distinguished with the FEI Top Driver Award.

The Netherlands is currently heading the Nations Cup classification with 89.60 points. Their team comprises of Ijsbrand Chardon, Theo Timmermann and Koos de Ronde, followed by the USA with James Henry Fairclough and Tucker Johnson (93.82) and then Germany with Rainer Duen, Christoph Sandmann and Michael Brauchle (98.17).
