According to an article by Linda B. Blackford in the Lexington Herald-Leader, Alltech, which was the title sponsor for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games held in Lexington Kentucky, has announced that they will sponsor a legacy event in 2011.  The event will be held in October from the 18th to the 23rd and could include a number of the disciplines which were included in the WEGs such as jumping or reining.

Many details of the event, including ticket prices, have not yet been worked out.  It is being tentatively called the Alltech Legacy Games.

Local Lexington officials were not  aware of these plans by Alltech and the Kentucky Horse Park. The local officials had been looking into a renewal of the Spotlight Lexington Festival which was originally held in conjunction with the WEGs in 2010.  It is not clear yet whether the Spotlight Festival would have any relationship with the Legacy Games

Alltech's involvement as WEG title sponsor has been beneficial for the company's expansion of its equine nutrition product lines.   In addition, the WEGs drew attention to horse sports in the U.S. which company officials believe would be nurtured through the legacy competition.
