According to TheHorse.com, flooding in Queensland, Australia has reached extremes which have been described as 'biblical proportions.' The waters are still rising and are not expected to peak until later in the week. ( ABC Brisbane) The destruction caused by the floods may top $1 billion, according to the U.K.-based Telegraph.
Residents in the region have also been warned to watch for deadly snakes and spiders, along with crocodiles which have been displaced by the floods and are moving through the waters looking for drier ground.
Horsezone.com.au reports RSPCA has been successful in rescuing many of the horses affected by the floods.
HorsetalkNZ said that horse owners must leave provisions for horses that cannot be evacuated or must prepare to evacuate them immediately.
