A Win for Kist

(SPRUCE MEADOWS, Calgary, AB):  With 14 horse/rider combinations starting the CN Cup on the first day of the Spruce Meadows “Oktoberfest” Tournament, it was a fight to the end.  Riding her 9 year-old Hannoverian gelding, Calgary ’s Carly Kist found herself on top with a flawless two round performance.

Course designer, Chris Brandt (CAN), set 13 jumping efforts over a track of 388 metres with a time allowed of 67 seconds.  There were six who cleared the first round course to move onto to a shortened jump-off track.

Carly Kist came through the gate with her mount Veterano , gunning for a quick
finish time.  She kept the pace on to finish fast, in a time of, 32.905.  Her closest competitor was fellow Calgarian, John Anderson, who’s time was, 34.95. Today it was the youngster with a horse named Veterano who beat a real veteran of the sport for the win.
