The American Quarter Horse Journal, AQHA release, April 14, 2010 – With a track record-setting win in the March 27 $100,000 Leo Stakes (G1) at Remington Park, Easy Dashin Sixes made a major splash in the season’s first update to the AQHA Racing-Horseplayernow.com National Poll for 3-year-olds and older. The half-length victory over Separate Bet launched the Texas-bred 5-year-old into this week’s No. 2 spot. He trails only unanimous No. 1-ranked Freaky, whose Grade 1 Los Alamitos Winter Championship victory earlier this year figures to be his only start until he preps for a late-season run at a repeat in the Grade 1 Champion of Champions.
Separate Bet, second in the Leo Stakes as the heavy favorite, moves down one slot to No. 3 this week from his previous ranking in the 2010 preseason poll. Meanwhile, Headturner debuts in the poll at No. 5, following his April 9 score in the Grade 2 El Primero Del Año Derby after winning the Los Alamitos Winter Derby (G1) earlier this spring.
The AQHA Racing-Horseplayernow.com National Poll also will include separate 2-year-old rankings beginning later this spring. The poll is released Wednesdays through the end of the racing season in December. A complete weekly run-down is available at aqharacing.com and horseplayernow.com.
