Esmee Ingham Named Dressage Canada Red Scarf Equestrian Athlete of the Month for September

Ottawa, ON — Esmee Ingham of West Vancouver, BC, has been named the Dressage Canada Red Scarf Equestrian Athlete of the Month for September.
At the 2010 North American Junior and Young Rider Championships, held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY July 28 – August 1, Ingham and Norseman, a 14-year-old Swedish Warmblood gelding owned by Esmee and Candie Ingham, won a bronze medal in the Junior Rider Freestyle class with a personal best score of 70.900%. They were also members of British Columbia Junior Riders Dressage Team that won the Team gold medal, scoring 69.027%.
“It was hard work and lots of training in the months leading up to the Championships, and I was lucky to have the opportunity to train with Leslie Reid and Carmie Flaherty for the weeks in which my coach, Wendy Christoff was competing in Europe for Canada,” said Ingham, 17. “The Championships were the most intense and rewarding rides of my life, definitely an experience I will never forget. Throughout the whole show, both in and out of the competition ring, Norseman was phenomenal. I couldn't have asked for more from him.”
“I must give many thanks to my coach, Wendy Christoff, my parents for their continued support and to my fellow riders—especially my teammates Monica Houweling and Sylvie Fraser—for making the Championships so memorable. There were many people who helped make the journey to the NAJYRC possible and I am very appreciative of their support. A thank you must also go to Red Scarf Equestrian for the generous sponsorship of Athlete of the Month. It is truly an honour to receive this award,” she added.
Dressage Canada Red Scarf Equestrian Athlete of the Month is a recognition program that celebrates the achievements of Canadian dressage riders who represent Canada in national and international competition at the FEI Pony, Children, Junior, Young Rider, Advanced, Grand Prix and Young Horses classes.
