It was announced today that Zara Phillips, 29, is engaged to her long-time boyfriend, Mike Tindall.

Ms. Phillips, daughter of Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips, is 12th in line to the British throne, but does not have a royal title and is not a working member of the royal family; she is a full-time equestrian.  

She has won both the European Championship (2005) and the World Championship (2006) in Eventing on her top horse Toytown.  She missed both the 2004 and 2008 Olympics as her horse was injured prior to each event.

Mike Tindal, 32, is a prominent Rugby Union football player, having played both for Bath and Gloucester as well as on national teams since 2000.

The couple met in 2003, and each has received an MBE.  

The engagement was announced on Twitter, Facebook and by email from Buckingham Palace.  No date has been set for the wedding.
