Kamal Bahamdam (Saudi Arabia), the winner of Thursday night’s Prix Barclays, is a particular case on the circuit. The likeable man is a banker who spends his time going back and forth between Dharan in Saudi Arabia and Geneva. That is why he has only little time for training in Valkenswaard with Jan Tops, where his horses are housed… and then he comes to the contest and wins it!

“Actually, it doesn’t always work like that”, laughs Bahamdam. Nevertheless he was able to beat the world’s best riders tonight: “It was a great moment… and the world’s forty best riders are all very kind towards me. I am really proud of being able to compete with them in the same arena tonight - I’m so lucky! Pinochetta jumped very well tonight.”

Kamal has the same aim as every top rider: “Participate at Lexington and show a good performance there, that’s my main goal at the moment. I will be there with my other horse, Rivaal, who is currently not competing”.

It’s the second international victory of the Saudi Arabian, and the first in a five star event.
