Horse Killed in Motorway Accident

A van swerved out of its lane heading south on the M40 Motorway in Warwickshire forcing a pick-up truck hauling a horse trailer off the side of the road and causing it to overturn.

One horse was thrown out of the trailer and headed out onto the roadway where it was hit by two vehicles. Its injuries were very serious and it could not be saved.

The second horse was wedged in the trailer and eventually freed. A veterinarian treated its injuries and it is presently recovering well.

None of the drivers in any of the vehicles was injured.
