(10 Aug 2010) HORSE Sport Ireland has issued an update on its plans for the World Equestrian Games (WEG).

The Games take place in Kentucky, USA, from September 26th to October 10th.

At yesterday’s (Monday) press briefing in Dublin, Team Ireland Equestrian’s Show Jumping Manager Robert Splaine confirmed that he had selected three of the squad of five riders to represent Ireland in Show Jumping.

The combinations selected are:

SHOW JUMPING
Denis Lynch; Lantinus or Nabab's Son
Cian O’ Connor; K Club Lady
Billy Twomey; Tinka’s Serenade or Je T’aime Flamenco

Two more combinations from riders who have already been named on superleague squads during 2010 will be announced at a later date.

Horse Sport Ireland also confirmed the following selections for the other disciplines at the Games.

DRESSAGE
Judy Reynolds; Remember

PARA EQUESTRIAN
James O’ Dwyer; Orlando
Eilish Byrne; Youri

REINING
Ollie Galligan; Whizardre N Starlite

EVENTING
In eventing, Team Ireland Equestrian High Performance Manager Ginny Elliott named a squad of six combinations in June from which five riders will travel to the games.

These combinations are:
Mark Kyle; Step in Time
Elizabeth Power; Kilpatrick River
Michael Ryan; Ballylynch Adventure
Patricia Ryan; Fernhill Clover Mist
Camilla Spiers; Portersize Just a Jiff
Sam Watson; Horseware Bushman
