In an alternative to traditional ferry transport, horses can now travel from the UK to the Continent on passenger trains via the Eurotunnel, cutting travel time by as much as a third.
In a new service launch March 1 by Eurotunnel in conjunction with Peden Bloodstock, horses can now travel in their own horseboxes, accompanied by their own grooms on the 35-minute trip. In addition, Eurotunnel has vets on standby for emergencies.
This new transport option is an alternative to the standard 90-minute ferry ride and is expected to cost about twice that of a ferry crossing.
Peden Bloodstock specialises in the movement of large groups of competition horses to and from major international events such as Olympic Games, World Championships, and Regional Championships.
