SAUGERTIES, NY (June 7, 2010)--Hasbrouck Donovan rolled into HITS-on-the-Hudson loaded for bear and captured the blue ribbon in the $10,000 Devoucoux Hunter Derby riding Showcase 81's Wagner to highlight HITS-on-the-Hudson II, in Saugerties, New York.

"Hasbrouck rides as well as anyone on the show grounds,” said trainer Don Stewart, of Ocala, Florida. "Wagner is a spectacular new horse and they are making a great team."

The Junior rider has been on a roll of late. Last week, Donovan (Gainesville, Florida) won the Maclay at Devon and scored a 90 in the hunter phase of the Washington on her new horse Wagner this week at HITS Saugerties.

In the $10,000 Devoucoux Hunter Derby, Donovan beat out 39 other horse-and-rider teams en route to collecting the $3,000 first-place check. The talented young rider and Wagner posted a score of 86 in the first round to take the lead.

In the handy round, the winning pair withstood a late surge from last week’s winner Agostino, ridden by fellow Junior rider Kelsey Hart. Hart nailed the hand gallop in course designer Rian Beals' 11-effort second-round track to put the pressure on Donovan and Wagner. However, at the end of the class, the talented pair triumphed.

According to Stewart, Donovan has an incredible team of supporters including her parents Billy and Christina Donovan. "Her father is a National Champion Basketball Coach at the University of Florida and her mother used to be a very competitive rider," said Stewart.

Hart (Albany, New York) and Agostino grabbed the red ribbon at the end of the class and taking third place was Lisa Foster (Manakin Sabot, Virginia) aboard Andre Foster's Castleguard

"My horse seems to love the Derbies," said Hart. "He steps up to the plate at the right time."

This spring and summer the all-new Devoucoux Hunter Derby is a featured event at both HITS Saugerties and HITS Culpeper, and represents the 13th division to count for points in the Marshall & Sterling League. The Devoucoux Derby Finals will be offered at the 2010 Marshall & Sterling League National Finals on September 15-19 in Saugerties, New York.

The next installment of the $10,000 Devoucoux Hunter Derby will take place on Saturday, June 12 during HITS-on-the-Hudson III. Also next week, Grand Prix riders will have two more chances to compete in qualifiers for the historic Pfizer $1 Million Grand Prix , which takes place on Sunday, September 12. On Friday, June 11 the $25,000 HITS Grand Prix, presented by Pfizer Animal Health, will take the stage and then on Sunday the big ticket $125,000 Purina Mills Grand Prix, presented by Pfizer Animal Health, will close out the Spring Series of horse shows at HITS-on-the-Hudson.

Also during HITS-on-the-Hudson III, the much anticipated Purina Mills Kids Day rolls into town.
