Don’t miss out on a chance to hear from eventing superstar, Oliver Townend, as he shares exclusively with USEA members his personal philosophy: “If I can do it, anyone can do it.”

Oliver is scheduled as the Keynote Speaker at the USEA Annual Meeting of Members, Saturday, December 11, 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, as well as a panelist on the Training Tips From Top Eventers on Friday from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The complete Convention schedule is available here.

In 2009, Oliver won the CCI4* at Badminton and the CCI4* at Burghley, an impressive feat that launched him into the spotlight of the eventing world.

Oliver came from humble beginnings as the son of a milkman, but he inherited his love of horses from his parents. His dad, Alan, competed in three-day eventing, while his mother, Eve, showed side saddle at county level.

Oliver began riding when he was 7 years old. His first success came when he was 11 with his pony, Cool Mule, at the Horse of the Year Show. At 13, he went on to represent Britain on the pony eventing team at the European Championships.

He quickly moved through the ranks and for three years was stable jockey to British Team Trainer, Kenneth Clawson, in Leicestershire.

He finished in 12th place at his first Badminton CCI4* aboard Topping, which earned the pair an individual place at the European Championships at Blenheim in 2005. Flint Curtis took over as Oliver’s primary horse in 2006 after placing third at Badminton, which was his first four-star event. Oliver remained on the British Squad, riding Flint as an individual at the Aachen World Equestrian Games the same year, before earning his first team place and a European Championship gold medal at Pratoni in 2007.

In 2009 Oliver and Flint Curtis won Badminton, and Oliver also went on to win the Burghley CCI4* on his other stunning grey horse, Carousel Quest. In so doing, Oliver joined an elite group of riders who have won back to back Badminton and Burghley titles. He duly finished the season at the top of the British Eventing points table for the first time.

Oliver’s stable presently includes a team of eight staff members and 45 horses. In addition to training, riding, and competing multiple horses at events nearly every weekend, Oliver has a wide range of other projects including his own line of equestrian products, an annual speaking tour, and an exclusive member’s club.
