Once again a Brazilian victory in the Sparkassen-Youngsters-Cup
As if it were child’s play the Brazilian rider, Bernardo Alves, repeated his victory in the second qualifier of the Sparkassen-Youngsters-Cup at the CHIO Aachen 2010, World Equestrian Festival. Of the nine clear rounds in all, his Holsteiner mare, Canturada, jumped the course in the fastest time of 70.07 seconds. “I was very pleased already yesterday, but today I am even more delighted about Canturada’s victory,“ the Brazilian rider stated. The 8-year-old grey mare has a famous sire, which Alves knows only too well: Canturo, who Alves came fourth with in the Grand Prix of Aachen and whom he competed with at the 2004 Olympic Games and the 2006 World Equestrian Games. The Holsteiner has in the meantime ended his sporting career and is currently at stud. The Brazilian stud, Haras de Joter, has owned Canturada since she was a three-year-old.
Second place also went to somebody who was born in South America: Luciana Diniz who in the meantime rides for Portugal. She had saddled the stallion bred in Saxony, Lewin by Lewinsk/Fidelio, who crossed the finishing line in 74.3 seconds ahead of the Spanish rider, Pilar Lucrecia Cordon Muro, on the Belgian-bred stallion, Dinky Toy, by Kashmir van Schuttershof/Fleuri du Manoir. The pair galloped over the course in a time of 75.75 seconds.
The best German rider was Ludger Beerbaum with Gut Neuenhof’s Cimba, a Westphalian mare by Clinton/Galoubet A.
