2009 Horse of the Year, Rachel Alexandra looks to have regained her earlier racing form in a dominating performance in the Fleur de Lis at Churchill Downs on Saturday.

Her first two starts this year resulted in two second place finishes which for any other horse would have been considered decent results.  For Rachel Alexandra, though, her fans were concerned that she was not up to her perfect 8 for 8 form of last year.

In the Fleur de Lis, she got off to a good start, let Jessica is Back take a small lead until the far turn when she surged pass Jessica is Back, who held on for third.  Destinctive Dixie went with Rachel past Jessica is Back, but from then on it was all Rachel Alexandra who stretched out under Calvin Borel for a 10-1/2 length romp to the wire.   Destinctive Dixie stayed in for second.

Trained by Steve Asmussen, the filly is owned by Jess Jackson's Stonestreet Farms and Harold McCormick.   Rachel's record is now 17-12-4-0 and she has earned $3,206,730.
