The Toronto Star has reported that a $1.1 million lawsuit has been launched involving some of Canada's most prominent horse show organizers.

According to the Toronto Star article, "the Superior Court of Justice suit filed by Martin Headland, the Tournament of Champions horse show and show publicist Liz Shaughnessy, alleges the show’s event manager and finance officer Mac McQuaker and Caledon Equestrian Park show promoter Craig Collins conspired to shutter the popular and lucrative tournament, which was a heavy supporter of charities such as the Children’s Wish Foundation and riding for the disabled programs."

According to The Star, “The 19-page statement of claim has also revealed a quiet, $1-a-year sweetheart rental agreement between the town of Caledon and one of Eastern Canada’s most prominent horse show promoters.”

None of the allegations have been proven in court. Collins and McQuaker have up to 30 days to file a statement of defence.
