While the horses have always exercised in the warm-up ring in the complex before moving to competition, spectators will have a new treat this year as over 100 horses also will be living inside the Oncenter this week. People can view the horses as they relax in their environment and stalls before they move to the War Memorial.
This year to add to the excitement, Atlas Fence is hosting a free competition for the local riders from Central NY. Thirty-eight of the talented riders from the area will vie for prestige and prizes in the
same arena that later in the week will have some of the top riders in the world compete in the $100,000 Detwiler Fenton FEI World Cup Qualifier of Syracuse presented by G&C Farm. With many free events and entertainment as well as the featured ticketed events on the weekend, the Syracuse Invitational Sporthorse Tournament welcomes all to come down and enjoy this event.
The Tournament, which runs from November 2nd – to November 7th also includes national and junior/amateur-owner jumpers as well as junior, amateur-owner, green and regular hunter divisions, along with the ASPCA Maclay National Championship in equitation. In addition to the World Cup Qualifier, other highlights of the show include the $80,000 Sporthorse Cup presented by Copernicus Stables, the $60,000 Spy Coast Farm High Junior/Amateur- Owner Jumper Championship and the NEW $50,000 Hunter Classic presented in honor of Charlie Weaver.
Competition tickets are on sale for the Syracuse Invitational through the Oncenter Box Office (315-435-2121) and Ticketmaster. There is a comprehensive schedule of events, activities and competitions for the entire family throughout the week and most of them are FREE. For a full
