Police in a town west of Brisbane, arrested a 17 year-old male for his part in the Christmas Day incident in which a Shetland pony was dragged behind a car, suffering life-threatening injuries.  The teen was charged with animal cruelty.

 

The young man was identified by witnesses as the passenger in the vehicle who was holding the rope while dragging the pony.

 

The driver has not yet been identified.

 

The 17 year-old has not been named.  He is expected to appear in court this month.

 

No official information has been released about the pony's condition.
