The Equine Photographers Network Announces Results for 2010 Equine Ideal Photo Contest

Hundreds of entries representing 12 countries and 43 states were entered in the seventh annual online equine photography contest sponsored by the Equine Photographers Network, making this the most competitive contest to date with an incredible array of outstanding equine images.

Professional and Amateur division winners were awarded first through sixth place as well as four honorable mentions in seven categories: Performance, Horses and Humans, Head Study, Horse at Liberty, Extreme Action, Art and Black and White. 
Professional equine photographers Bev Pettit and Laura Cotterman presided as judges. 

Best of Show Professional:
“Dust Storm” 
Congratulations to Meghan Balogh of Ontario, Canada 

Best of Show Amateur:
"Hooves of Thunder"
Congratulations to Jean Hildebrandt of Arizona 

People's Choice Voting
Over 3400 votes were cast with the People’s Choice Professional going to “Huntsmen's Hunt in the River” by Liz Callar of Virginia and Amateur to “First Bite” by Terry Fitch of South Texas.

What the Judges are saying: 
"I am truly humbled by the quality of the images submitted in this year’s contest in the Professional Division. There were some obvious clear winners and then there were so many images that I labored over for days whether to place them or not. Because the competition was so overwhelmingly fierce I was forced to stick very closely to the judging criteria as outlined under the Official Rules for entering." 

"There were lots of great photos in the Amateur division this year. Selecting the top ten from such a large group was a tough assignment. In many instances the decision boiled down to how creatively the image expressed the concept of the category. There were some fabulously engaging and creative images in all of the categories that really expressed the photographer's vision."
