The Global Champions Tour will head for the sunshine and azure seas of the French Riviera for its next stop.   The excitement will be intensified by the appearance on home soil of the French team, already successful in the Nations Cups of France and Italy this year and looking like the team everyone will need to beat in the coming World Championships. Included among their number is last year's winner Roger Yves Bost and current European Champion Kevin Staut.

The "International Show Jumping of Cannes" became the show with the world's richest prize money in 2000 with a total purse of 1.4 million dollars. Since then, the world's best riders and their top horses come to the city of the "International Film Festival" annually to enjoy the top sport of the famous Global Champions Tour stage and the glamorous ambiance. Last year, the audience saw French rider Roger-Yves Bost win with Ideal de la Loge. They were the only combination who managed to stay clear within the time allowed. Michel Robert, the other French crack rider was less lucky. He fell and was seriously injured. But all ended well for him in the end - he recovered quickly to win the final in Doha and become the GCT champion of 2009.

But the French will not have it all their own way. Also coming will be the current GCT points leaders Marco Kutscher and Marcus Ehning from Germany. Ireland's leading lady Jessica Kurten is on the entry list and two American amazons Laura Kraut and Lauren Hough.

Highlights of the event will be broadcast by Sport1 (in Europe) on Saturday, June 19 at 11:45 AM and it will be streamed live on the Internet at JumpingCannes.com.
