On Thursday April 8, Tim Stockdale was awarded the BEF Medal of Honor during the British Open Showjumping championships.  The medal, which was first awarded in 1949,  is given to recognize outstanding contributions at the international level of competition in any one of the disciplines represented by the BEF.

Tim has represented the British Showjumping Team in international competition since 1988.   He has ridden on nations cups team 47 times, which includes the 2004 World Championships, the 2008 Olympic Games, and the 2009  European Championships.

In addition to his direct participation as a team member, he has also worked to increase popular interest in horse sport by appearing in popular reality television shows including "Only Fools on Horses" for Sport Relief fundraising  and "Faking It."  For several years, he was chair of the British Showjumping marketing and commercial committee of which he is still a member.   He is also in high demand as a clinician, has written a book on training techniques, and has made a series of instructional DVDs.

We would like to add our congratulations to Tim, our own Barnmice blogger, on this very well deserved honor!
