Top international showjumper Oki Doki has died following complications relating to tendon surgery.
The bay 14-year-old Dutch warmblood gelding, ridden to many successes by Albert Zoer of The Netherlands, injured a tendon during a jump-off while competing with new owner Jose Larocca in Cannes in June.
He subsequently underwent surgery and recovered well, and was on standard post operative medication. However, the much-loved horse developed complications on Wednesday and was taken to Bern Clinic by a veterinary team. He tragically died due to septic shock in the abdomen.
A celebrity in the showjumping community, Oki Doki had fans around the world.
Oki Doki was sold to British-based Argentinian rider Larocca in February.
