Belgian rider, Philippe Le Jeune managed  four fault free rounds on the four championship horses to claim the gold medal.  Al Sharbatly of Saudi Arabia claimed silver and Canada's Eric Lamaze held on for the bronze. 

Hickstead was the champion horse going clear with all riders.
