YOUR HORSE COULD BE A GREETING CARD SUPERSTAR!

Your horse could have what it takes to become the international star of a brand new Jude Too greeting card.

Hi everyone, I'm Lesley Bruce the artist behind Jude Too. All of my cards are based on real-life events, and this fall I am inviting riders everywhere to send me their most unforgettable horsey moments to be created into a brand new greeting card based on the antics of a new equine superstar and their "person".

On October 31, I will select one horse and rider to capture their story in an original picture and share it with the whole world as the newest addition to the international Jude Too series.

What happened to you and your horse today…last month...last year? What made you laugh…love...cry...scream just because you have a horse? Your story can be funny, silly moving - even embarrassing, but most of all fun.

To enter, post your story on our group Comment Wall along with a small photo of you and your horse. Your story can be as short as one paragraph!

For examples of current Jude Too cards visit the Jude Too collection. I look forward to reading your stories!!

Hi Bayknight.

Gosh you were lucky to get that photo with the peppermint jar, Tommy Boy has his muzzle is well jammed in.

It's lovely to hear of OTTBs coming off the tracks and having such wonderful relationships with their people. you both look so happy.

I started to teach my horse Luther to bow but chickened out in case he fell over. I was doing it with carrots, what is a PEEPS candy?

thanks for posting and the pictures are great.

Cheers

Pictured is Lilly, mare, & Mystery, foal - born 22nd Apr 07. I was fortunate enough to have Lilly, who had her own idea of life, on loan to breed a foal. During the pregnancy Lilly had a problem with her suspensory ligaments! Mystery was born 3 weeks early and wobbly. Bless her. She then unfortunately had an ulser - which was luckily dealt with with tablets over a 3 week period. But due to taking after her mother with her own idea on life she sailed through to be fit and healthy. Lilly was not put in foal again. Due to Lillys past being mysterous, I decided to call the foal Mystery. Having spoken to the owner of Lilly is was decided to put her down when Mystery was weaned. Mystery is most definately her mothers child! Thank you Lilly for giving me Mystery!

Hi Brook86

Lovely Photo. Paddy or rather "Sliver Mercedes" well he's the clever one, he's no fool and knows exactly what's what, to look after the scared ones and give a few thrills to you ... perfect.

Is he house trained too?

Thanks
Cheers

Hi LucyM.

My horse Finn was orphaned and bottle fed, they are different he is 20 now and still, if I go to see him at night he will wicker and look for the bottle, he's never forgotten those midnight feasts, he even still sucks.

thanks for posting and I watch out for your video.

Cheers

My story is well a combination of two stories, which I hope you enjoy. I want to start with a brief history of my horse and I. I own an 8 yr old OTTB who I have had since he came off the track at the age of 4. I named him Tommy Boy, rightfully so after the Chris Farley movie. My horse is a true goof ball!
So my first story begins with my horse and I at a hunter show last year. As most of you all know, when you get to a show you get their early and then wait! Well I like for my horse to be out of the trailer as much as possible, so I typically sit in a nice comfy chair and let him munch on some hay. Well Mister Curious decides to start investigating his surroundings....so one of my friend's truck bed was open next to us and my horse decides to start checking out items sitting in the bed.
Well guess what he found? Before I had time to think let along react, I jumped up to find my horse's nose STUCK in a peppermint treat container!!! Yes the opening was small! My friend happened to have her camera right there and we were able to capture this shot! We were all cracking up! I had to pull the container off of my horses nose! He was determined to get a peppermint, wrapper and all!!

My other story goes like this, I have been teaching my horse to bow for the past year. I found out that my horse loves PEEPS candys, the yummy marshmellow chicks that only come out during the holidays. Well I started to teach him to bow with just regular treats, it was motivating but not quite enough, so sure enough I put a PEEP in front of him and low and behold my horse does a full out bow!!! My horse will do anything for a PEEP!!! (attached a picture of that as well)

I hope you enjoyed those two brief stories displaying my horse's goofy personality, these events occur on a daily basis, I have so many more stories I can tell!

Not so much of a story as more of a few tales to tell about my little Paddy or Silver Mercedes as he is known. Paddy 'does'dressage, he competes at elementary, working at Advance medium at home. He is what my dad calls an over sized labrador dog, and is the only pony that would ever be allowed in the house.
He is a sharp little button, quick as you like to stand up and spin off with me.
Yet this is the same pony, who you get leg a 7yo (neice in this case) onto, with a hat that covers her eyes, who is too scared to do much on her own, the same child will pop pony into trot at a show, and trot round the car park despite being able to see nothing. My friend poked her head out of her lorry and said the timeless compliment ' you could pay that pony to babysit'.

Love,
Lili and Paddy

My real wild boy is Cantilator or Tilly, who I always tell the breeders should have been named "Cantwaitillater". Tilly makes every dressage rider neverous as he stands in the cross ties of the barn tapping. We brought home Tilly's 3 year old full brother, Charlie, in May from the track. My husband says he can tell who is in the barn in the morning because it sounds like two tap dancers having a dance off when the brothers are in.
Tilly is a phenomenal mover and even more amazing across the country, but we have yet to get him to enjoy his time in the sand box (dressage arena). After running our first intermediate successfully--despite an explosive dressage test-- it was time to finish out the season with a CIC1*. The first half was lovely. In fact, I was teary eyed that perhaps this little monster of a horse had decided to hold himself together for the test and give me something to remember the year by. HAH! We had a halt and rein-back at D... what followed next was not the medium walk to a free walk across the diagonal, but rather LEAPING in the air, followed by bolting across the diagonal. He hit the rail and literally put his hoof on the arena fence, preparing to leave! A miracle occured and somehow we managed to then proceed down the rail in a horrid head to wall leaping fit, which eventually worked back into a lovely canter to finish the test. As we exited the arena and I thanked the judges at C and E, all I could do was laugh that this terribly athletic horse took every ounce of my energy to stay IN the arena...
So, when people ask how our ride was and I tell them we were happy to stay IN the arena, it's not a far stretch, as we have obviously had trouble with that in the past!
At one horse trial Tilly decided that trotting was boring and that a very collected canter would be far more interesting. When we were supposed to canter, our 20m Medium circle turned into a 40m medium circle and we took down a good 1/2 of the arena! At our final halt, the judge just sat there shaking her head that we had no right to be in the arena.
As time has gone on, I've found out that I'm not the only one who has a wild horse in dressage. I guess there's a fine balance between holding it together in dressage to blast 'round cross country and being a total bat out of hell!

I have too many stories of my wild boys... and girls...
In April '08, my 2 year old daughter, Ainsley, and I went to the local auction to search for a pony for her... something nearly dead that she could hang off and get her horsie legs around. Well, we came home with something nearly dead, but not quite the pony I planned on! "Paddington J. O'Suerte" was standing in the back corner, about to be loaded on the slaughter truck. A 15.2hh bay gelding, Paddy was tatooed from the track and just 4 years old. He'd already had 2 careers--one on the race track and then as a roping horse at a ranch.
Just 2 months after joining our family, Paddy and Ainsley made their leadline and showing debut together! Paddy began his day in some jumper classes and Ainsley joined with her purple ratcatcher, purple helmet, jodphur boots, judphurs, and even a princess belt. Paddy danced around through the entire class and before pinning the riders, the judge came over and asked Ainsley if she was going to be a hunter/jumper rider. My normally shy daughter let out a resounding, "NO", which made mom laugh. The judge looked at me puzzled, to which I replied, "I think she's going to be an event rider". Ainsley was grinning ear to ear at my comment and the judge had a good laugh as both pony and child danced out of the arena.
