YOUR HORSE COULD BE A GREETING CARD SUPERSTAR!

Your horse could have what it takes to become the international star of a brand new Jude Too greeting card.

Hi everyone, I'm Lesley Bruce the artist behind Jude Too. All of my cards are based on real-life events, and this fall I am inviting riders everywhere to send me their most unforgettable horsey moments to be created into a brand new greeting card based on the antics of a new equine superstar and their "person".

On October 31, I will select one horse and rider to capture their story in an original picture and share it with the whole world as the newest addition to the international Jude Too series.

What happened to you and your horse today…last month...last year? What made you laugh…love...cry...scream just because you have a horse? Your story can be funny, silly moving - even embarrassing, but most of all fun.

To enter, post your story on our group Comment Wall along with a small photo of you and your horse. Your story can be as short as one paragraph!

For examples of current Jude Too cards visit the Jude Too collection. I look forward to reading your stories!!

Hi,

I have three horses. Alf - 20yrs, 16hh, orange TB. The fastest sideways teleport in Norfolk. Particularly dislikes dock leaves (especially when they're upside down) and puddles (especially if they've got bubbles in them). He is however, utterly bombproof in traffic. From combine harvesters to jets. You name it, he doesn't mind it. But those pesky dock leaves.... And there was the time when, mid way through a gallop, a rabbit shot out from under our feet..... We've never stopped so quickly!

Horse number 2 is Pele - 9 years, bay QHx, 15.3hh. Looks like a slightly taller than average Thelwell pony. Love to play with his ball (like his namesake!). Also likes to pick up anything he can. And is a dab hand at untying himself. Has a chest as wide as a barn door, and a backside that would block the Eurotunnel!!!

Horse number 3. Pickle (or Volatis Azeri to give him is posh name). 3 years old. 17.2hh (yes, that's right!!), bay splodgy boy. Is a little bit special. Pickle was orphaned at just over a week old. Bottle fed by his breeder, and nannyed by her 4 year old gelding, he came to live with me at 5 and a half months, a tiny scrap of a colt.

He was initially turned out with Alf, who nannyed him and taught him some manners. I quickly learnt how to foal wrestle (his favourite trick was to rear and box at you!), and things were helped by his being gelded. On Valentines Day no less!! The irony!

Pickle's story is long, and I could go on forever. We've had ups and downs. I've spent more on vets bills than he cost me to buy - the name Pickle really does suit him!! He plays tug of war with the ball and Pele (I have great video footage of them). And he's grown. Oh boy, has he grown. 17.2 now, at just about 3 and a half.

2 and a half weeks ago, I took Pickle back to his breeder to be started. She'd not seen him since he was a yearling, and it was emotional for both of us. He's coming on really well, which is great. Last weekend, I went to visit him, having spent sleepness nights wondering if he'd remember me (as you do!). Totally unfounded. As I came around the corner to catch him, he wuffled and wickered at me. I swear, the last 3 years were completely worth it in that moment. And yes, I cried!

OMG Janet you look like your riding a pogo stick, your teeth must rattle. Ngala is what one might say ... an exciting ride,... yes, I can just picture you nearing the speed of light astride your rapidly acceleratingly caped super-hero.

Think I'd like a bit of glue on my breeches to ride your Ngala.

thanks for the tales
cheers

My friend made me a beautiful quarter sheet for Christmas and I love it. So I throw it on for a cool fall ride. It's slightly windy and I never thought ahead of time but it started to flap in the wind as we were cantering along...... the faster it went the faster he went .... just imaging a TB flying along with a cape on behind him!!
just a little story,
Janet & Ngala

Salad is actually Salazar = pet name:-) He's a Tersk, born at the Stavropol stud in the former soviet union. He was raced twice (thats one of the things they are bred for) and finished second twice, before being bought by an importer and being brought to the UK as a 3yo colt.

I hadn't intended to buy a horse, but went to the dealers the day after a lorry of horses arrived in the country to be the 'eyes on the ground' while a friend looked at a Grand Prix horse that had come in the same lot. As we were looking round the yard, this small head with a white face and rolling eye peeped out of one of the stables. Karen said "Ugh, I don't like that!", and I replied that I though he looked pretty and rather liked him.

In a flash the dealer had him saddled up (no honestly you have no idea how fast - the words were barely out of my mouth!!!) and being led into the sand arena for me to have a sit on.

I sat on this wobbly colt, who knew how to gallop and nothing else and fell in love. I brought him home a few days later and he's made me work hard, learn to ride and have an absolute ball ever since.

We've learned to do dressage together, learned half pass, pirouettes, and the difficult art of a square halt:-) We've done pleasure rides, ride and lead with my little girl, we've been x/c, we've learned to hunt, been in a midnight steeplechase (must post that story), had a try of Le Trec and a few shorter distance rides. I know him like the back of my hand, he's the most generous lovely horse (who is also a plonker at times) in the world.

My friend didn't get her GP horse though lol!

my horse as you can see is a little wild!.. all four feet off the ground is his favorite.. this is after dressage and we are warming up for stadium... he generally does this only in warm up but the last show I was know for the leaping, bucking flying lead change... we went clear but it was quite quick.. LOL

Hey Linda,
My stallion Luther was the same, just lay there and even sprawled on his side to emphasise the point that he needed the beauty sleep. ... is it a man thing????

You have such a relationship with your Salad, it's lovely.
By the way where did his name come from?

Thanks for the stories
Cheers

Salad is fun when he feels like it lol. As a youngster, like many entires he was an idle little monkey.

His routine used to be brekkie, muck out, then tuck into his morning hay, keep his pyjamas on and go back to bed until lunch time, then out for the afternoon after lunch.

He did like his morning nap, so much that if I intended to take him out to a competition, he wouldn't get up to be spruced up. I would end up sitting on his bed next to him and doing his plaits where he was, normally he'd still be there when it was time to put his bridle on. Far too tiring to stand up when slaves could bend down after all!

When it was time to get his saddle on, he'd stand with a huge sigh and a "was having a lovely rest, nasty lady to make me get up" sort of look on his face:-)

Then being brushed - he doesn't like being brushed very much, he learned the avoidance technique of putting his chin on my shoulder and shutting his eyes for a scratch behind his ears. He knew it was cute and I'd stop brushing and cuddle him instead - he still does it now - adorable.
