Hey there. I'm Andrea & I'm living in the wonderful Kootenays of BC... Salmo actually. Our farm is called "Standard-5 Acres"... my husband, son & myself live on 5.6 acres of lovely flat land with 2 geldings (Feivel & Jonny), 2 dogs (Bhue & Jayki) and one cat (Tafi).

My riding passion is DRESSAGE, but I also enjoy just hitting some trails & basic english pleasure. I also LOVE ground work & lungeing... I've started from scratch with a few horses over the years, 2 being totally wild & never seen humans or civilization. SUCH a fun & educational journey! Currently down to my 2 beloved geldings... Feivel is my main man, had him since a 3 month wild weanling to now 6 years old... and Jonny is my semi-retired, got lotsa 'go' left in him trail rider & occasional arena fun horse. Feivel's a 15.2hh 3/4 QH 1/4 Percheron & Jonny is a 14.2hh (stout/sturdy) QH.

I thought I'd start up this group to see if there's any other Kootenay horsers out there on the site. Feel free to add discussion topics & post pics, etc. It's YOUR group!

Looking forward to meeting others on here!
I might elaborate my intro if others come on-board. =)
Hi there,

I'm Janine and I live just outside of Nelson BC. For the past 6 yrs I have been loving the riding that the surrounding hills offer in this area. I mainly trail ride but hope to start some lessons again soon to work out the bugs and shake out the rust. I ride english and have a back ground in Centered Riding (but sadly out of practice). I have also done some jumping (hunter/jumper + x-country).

What are the trails like around Salmo? I have not made it out there yet, though, I have gone on a short ride up Porto Rico Rd.

I have 5 Fjords and only the yearling is for sale. The stories of my herd are long so it's easier for me, if you are interested, you can read them on my web site, www.yellowhorse.ca/fjord/

I have done some riding in Harrop/Proctor, Pass Creek, Ootischenia(Castlegar), Krestova, Blewett, and last spring I spent a long weekend discovering Rock Creek. This year I hope to try out the riding in Summerland and Cranbrook on long weekend trips.

I will post some pics soon and hope to hear from some other local horse people.
