Yup that's me Shirley. I think it has served me well when it comes to the "natural" horsemanship stuff out there. I've been able to see through the maze somewhat. Also, it has helped me stay soft with my horses especially as I get older. My let it be attitude helps me not to be too pushy with the horses. Although there are those that have criticized this over the years and left me wondering "when will I ever be understood?" It warms my heart that the younger generation are pursueing the quieter, gentler way of training horses rather then forcing themselves onto our equine friends. There is a place for discipline, but in a controlled manner, minus all the verbage and insults.
Oh Cindy! I love your reply!! We seem to be of the same mind and heart on this.
Keep Horsen Around!
I notice that my ways with my horse are much gentler than my trainers..... the pro.... he and I hadn't really hung out in the past year, but I hung out with Oliver and Steve hung out with Oliver, he rode him and I taught him manners....

guess which one of us the horse goes to more than the other????? I am just learning, but gentle is so easy and they do the same thing as they are asked more aggressively, I find it very interesting.. maybe he comes to me cuz I share my granola with him too... LOL
Well, if you really want to know....each of you stand an equal distance with your granola away from Oliver. I bet you win! If not, I'd guess it's just a little more time being a little stronger leader. I suspect you are already there.
Keep on riding!
Hey I love granola....so do my horses! :) We share apples, carrots, and granola, homemade of course, so I know what's in it :)
Me also. We all just refuse to fade away.
I am a MUCH better rider because of it. If someone gets snotty about how I ride--well, we all know how to deal with that don't we? I don't know how many times I refused to do what a teacher taught because it made my horse uncomfortable. Happier horse, happier me, win-win all around!
totally agree!!!! :)
