If you had to choose 1 or 2 things that are the most important to you when you pick an instructor to ride with , what would they be? Knowledge, name, awards, certification, experience......?

Thanks for joining our group and thanks for looking at US Horsemanship, too. I love the really good basics and I hope that sending out the Fort Riley information will help it not to become "lost" history. Our modern eventers are the closest to riding with the Fort Riley basics but I think that goes to show that a good balanced seat is necessary for activity over varied ground in any generation.

Kudos to you for persevering with riding while you deal with MS. My Mom had MS and I admire you for your efforts. I'm so glad you have an instructor that you're pleased with. Any time a person can find an instructor who understands them, their goals AND good horsemanship... well then you've found a real gem. What do you think Debbie's best qualities are, as an instructor?

I agree with you -Huaso was truly amazing and I love that his rider was able to be his partner instead of being in his way. There may not be many horses that can jump that high but their are so many horses who try 110% in their jobs and their riders don't recognize it.

Due to my MS it was hard for me to find a TRUE TEACHER to help me with my riding. I finally found Debbie Campbell, and have been riding with her for almost 5 years, and my seat is getting better than ever before.
Barbara, I just got off your ushorsemanship.com site, after having watched once again the video of Huaso setting the high jump record long ago. Truly amazing, that the horse had enough heart to even try to jump something so much taller than him, and that the rider had such total faith in Huaso's abilities that he did not interfere with the supreme effort. Thank you for making that video available on your site.
May your efforts to improve the standards of instruction and your efforts to re-introduce the Fort Riley seat bear fruit.

Even though it's meant as a spoof, I love this video because it shows that we all have things to over come about riding but we ride because we love it. Love of horses and riding is a common thread between all of us, no matter what style of riding we do and no matter what level of riding we do. All of it is good and it all enriches our lives. What style of riding interests you the most?
