I met several breeders over the last year.  Galicenos of Suwannee (Richard, Heidi, and Pat) introduced me to Mr. Hardcastle.  Mr. Hardcastle introduced me to Mr. Tackett.  When I registered my stallion I met the Giles' who run the registry.  Mr. Hardcastle and Giles both live in the Godley,TX area.  Mr. Tackett is in Jacksboro,TX.  I met Mr. Arnold through a customer at work.  His ranch is in nearby Springtown, TX.  We will be participating in the St. Patricks day parade in the Fort Worth Stockyards on March 17, 2012.

Suwannee Storm is nearly two and this photo was from last week when I put a saddle on him for the first time. This is the second youngster that has done this.  He let me saddle him and walked around with it like it didn't exist.  As you can see he is very small. His sire was 12.3 I believe. Not sure about his dam.  Right now he is around 11.2 hh and growing. He did grow quite a coat for winter.  It was almost laughable.  Can't wait for him to shed out and see just how good he really looks now!

This is my little man last year before he came to our ranch. He has impeccable breeding(an own grandson to ND's Windfire) and is absolutely correct and gorgeous. In this photo he was a yearling(less than 18 mos.) He is now turning two in a few days.  He has filled out a lot and put on quite a bit of weight.

Happy New Year folks!  Did someone leave the window open at the US/Canada border?  I have ice in the troughs out there, lol!  Windchill today was around 15-17 degrees F.  Welcome to winter in Texas....80 one day and 20 the next.

I am really excited tonight as I have just located some old pics of our herd from back in the early 90s as the Gates family was getting their start with the Galiceno breed.  Pics of Senorita, Miss Lightening, possibly Lady Shy, youngsters El Dorado and Rosalita, and just a peek of Miss Wildfires butt.  Will post pics soon.

I opened my packet from AIHR a few hours ago. I now have my membership card and Storms registration in hand!!!! . He is now a double registered stallion of impeccable breeding!  American Indian Horse Registry is a type registry that accepts our Galiceno's and variations of mustangs and Spanish Colonial Horses( Spanish Barbs.) They are active with 4-5 events a year while the breed registry maintains a national studbook and is relatively inactive.  The membership is working toward group activities intended to create/ strengthen bonds with in the registry.

http://www.galiceno.org/photo-gallery-and-lineages.html check out the images of the color diversity of the Galicenos at Galicenos of Suwannee.  Love, Diosa de Oro, and Diamonte de Blanco are all there along with Bijou and the rest of the gang.

This is a video of Suwannee Love trying out her legs during an early playtime outdoors.  She is a 2010 model and has matured into a beautiful mare.  Visit galiceno.org for more info.
