Taz is a cute horse ArabXPaint with a great attitude. He is one of those horse that responds as soon as you think it. ie think stop, he stops.

That's a "hang man's knot". After you put the lead rope around the horse's neck, you take the end of the lead rope and bend it backwards towards the horse making a loop, put your hand over the loop so it pokes out the back of your hand and wind the rest of the lead rope over the loop starting at the end closest to the horse, when you get to the end where the loop is stick the remaining end of lead shank through the loop so it doesn't go astray, then pull a little so the knot is snug. There should be a space the size of your fist between the rope and the horse. You can see on Taz there is quite a gap. I find this arrangement very handy when trail riding, plus you have more room on your saddle to tie other stuff.
