Texas, AKA, Just a Jif of Son, APHA gelding, and his girl child, Kaylaa, Miss Lil Bit Rodeo Idaho, 2007-2008.
Texas was purchased at a sale, due to his great nature with children . Within 24 hrs of purchase, Texas was dragging his right hind leg, so severely, that after two vet checks, we were told by both vets, he was unsafe to ride, and would probably never be able to be ridden, by anyone other than a child, and that only on the flat, never on trail. He had severe neurological damage from a disease or severe injury, or trauma.
We beleive it was from disease, as he responded very well, to herbs used to treat not only inflammation and pain, but also blood, disorder infestation, like EPM, protozoa, Herpes or Lymes in horses.
We used a combination of garlic with astragalus, schizandra berry, and rosehips, and the single herb ,blood root.
He knew what he wanted, and took it. Bloodroot, if you have ever tasted it, is like dehydrated vomit! He licks it out of our hands, and licks his feed tub clean when we give it to him, .
He is wonderful with children, very sharp. Today, he is ridden by Kaylaa with very little sign of problem. She recently won, Play Days races on him, in her age category, and won the purse, of 150.00. He was fast and wanted to go faster.
We do have some trouble getting him to take his right lead, and we beleive with getting him collected, and doing pre dressage moves, and lots of flat work, and herbs, he will recover fully, and be a faithful team member with Kaylaa for many years.
We did not return him to the sale owners, due to the fact we felt he had such a exceptional character, we didnt want to return him, to people who we werent sure had the intention of doing right by him.
