I am in the same boat as you in being the only one at my barn that does natural horsemanship. Like at your place a few lunge a little before riding and that's it.
No one ever says much either as far as that they think it is neat what we can get them to do. Recently I've had three people at the barn tell other people "Shirley can do a lot of neat things with Cash on the ground" Pleasant surprise since they've always seemed to think it was useless. As you know it does take time but not that much.
There is a couple that pooh-pooh it...it's like it's not what they do with their horse so it's not important. No matter! I'm glad to have the Parelli influence.
When the new instructors start out, they have to give 50 free lessons before they can start taking any money. But it will still be a one on one lesson & then she is going over to a friends to do a lesson with her and I think I'll go watch.
You seem to be getting back on a roll with Cooper. I know how good it must feel. I'm soooo happy to be doing better on Cash's back. The thought of not getting over that freezing fear was intense and soooo depressing and threatening to me cause time with him has come to be so important for me. Now that we are about where we were before the flare-up, I am hoping Kim can help us really become a safe team and get away from the arenas.
Looking forward to your videos when you get them on!!
That's great!! It's wonderful when something happens by fluke then you take it, and keep using it!
I wish we could have someone come to our barn for a free online lesson. They could even use Cooper as a demo because I am sure he knows a lot more than I do, at a higher level than me LOL
But I don't know how many would come as almost no one else does ground work. A few will lunge their horses, not many, and a lot of them just get on and ride. I thought one woman was interested and when I offered to loan her my video she said no thanks that she wouldn't do it anyway. Ah well, I'm the only one at my barn who does any NH.
A little brag here! A few months ago Cash offered the back-up with no-line contact and has continued to do it on request. It was just sort of a fluke thing and turned into 'awesome experience'. Sometimes he will back right to my side....Love that! Did get more videos taken a few days ago, now gotta get on YouTube and here.
We have a new Parelli Level 1 Online instuctor coming to do a 'free lesson' on Thursday. Should be fun. I have gotten so lax on doing anything the right way, a refresher and reminders will be a good thing.
So far he pulls against this the other way. I think in one of the next levels, think it might be level 3 online, is when we will start doing the leading by the tail :) I purchased the complete new levels , still viewing level 1 & 2 at the moment.
He might start backing up for this one.
